Mining Operation Proposed for Route 100
Dear Concerned Neighbor:
Thank you for joining almost 200 Rochester residents in signing the petition against the Rochester mining proposal. We want to bring you up to date on what has happened recently:
1. Unfortunately, the proposal is still alive and well and moving forward.
 2. Kingsbury Construction, of Waitsfield, is preparing more studies in support of the project which will be presented to the District Environmental Commission in mid June.
3.Kingsbury is also preparing to obtain the local permit they need from the Rochester Planning Commission
 4. WE NEED YOUR HELP NOW!
The mining proposal will result in:
 1. 40 or more added large dump truck trips PER DAY through Rochester Village and all the way up Route100.
 2. Dangerous traffic conditions for all of us.
 3. Blasting, drilling and crushing noise, dust and debris.
 4. Risk of damage to groundwater, foundations, and surface waters including the White River and Breakneck Brook.
 5. Waste discharge into and onto lands not owned by the mining operators.
The mining proposal will:
 1. NOT create jobs for our Valley.
 2. NOT enhance the quality of life in our Valley.
 3. NOT help our children's safety as trucks rumble by our sidewalks and schools.
 4. NOT help our businesses as regular truck trips negatively impact visitors.
 5. NOT help our environment as it creates noise, air, and water pollution.
 6. NOT help our safety as trucks enter and leave Rt. 100 in a dangerous location.
